Let’s clear something up once and for all:

✅ If you’re selling high-ticket offers, a 3-6X return on ad spend (ROAS) is absolutely possible.
✅ If you’re selling low-ticket offers, breaking even (or losing money) is almost guaranteed (at least on the front end).

So before you jump into the world of low-ticket funnels thinking they’ll “fund” your business, let’s take a hard look at the numbers and see why focusing on high-ticket is almost always the smarter play.

Step 1: Understanding Low-Ticket Economics (And Why Most People Get It Wrong)

The average cost per acquisition (CPA) for an online info product?

➡️ $150-$200 (if your marketing is dialed in).

Now, let’s do some quick math:

  • If you’re selling a $500 product, your profit after acquisition is $250.
  • If you’re selling a $197 product, your profit is… zero (or worse, negative).

This is where most business owners panic and start justifying the losses.

  • “It’s okay, I’ll make it back on the backend!”
  • “I just need a better email sequence.”
  • “Once they’re in my world, they’ll eventually buy my high-ticket offer.”

Sure… maybe.

But what’s more likely? You’ll burn cash upfront and hope your backend strategy works later.

💡 The question you need to ask:
"Am I willing to spend $1 just to make $1, hoping they buy later?"

If the answer is yes, then fine. But for most business owners, that’s a dangerous game to play.

Step 2: The Only Two Ways Low-Ticket Works

If you’re dead set on selling a low-ticket offer, you have to nail one (or both) of these two things:

1️⃣ Massive volume at a razor-thin profit margin.

  • If you can bring your cost per acquisition way down and keep your price high enough, you might clear $20-$40 per transaction.
  • But unless you’re running insane traffic volume (which takes serious ad spend), you won’t see life-changing profit from this alone.

2️⃣ A bulletproof backend offer that converts like crazy.

  • If your $197 product immediately leads into a $5K-$10K offer that converts at a high rate, then okay, maybe it’s worth it.
  • But if the backend isn’t airtight, you’re just throwing money at META and hoping for the best.

💡 Reality check: Most people don’t have the backend fully dialed in before running low-ticket offers. And that’s why they lose money.

Step 3: Why High-Ticket ROAS is So Much Easier

Now, let’s compare that to high-ticket offers.

If you’re running ads to book calls for a $10K+ offer, and your cost per booked call is $500…

  • If you close 1 in 5 calls (20%), that means you’re acquiring a client for $2,500.
  • You’re spending $2,500 to make $10,000.
  • That’s a 4X ROAS. 🚀

Now, which sounds easier?

✔️ Selling hundreds of low-ticket products just to break even, or
✔️ Closing 1 in 5 calls at 4X return?

That’s why high-ticket is king.

Step 4: If You Still Want to Do Low-Ticket, Here’s the Right Way

I get it. Some people love the idea of building a low-ticket offer.

So here’s my take:

✅ If you’re already creating content (newsletter, podcast, etc.), package it into something valuable and give it away for free.
✅ Use free content to warm people up for your high-ticket offer.
✅ Don’t expect low-ticket to make you rich—it’s a stepping stone, not the end game.

If you must charge for a low-ticket offer, treat it as a breakeven tool.

But if you’re doing it because you “don’t think a 4X ROAS is possible” on high-ticket? STOP.

Before you even touch low-ticket, optimize your high-ticket funnel first. Because if you can take your ROAS from 2X to 4X, that’s infinitely easier than making low-ticket work.

Step 5: The Right Play for Most Business Owners

If you’re selling high-ticket, here’s the game plan:

✅ Focus on getting your ROAS to 3-6X FIRST.
✅ Only add low-ticket IF your high-ticket funnel is already optimized and profitable.
✅ If you’re creating content anyway, give it away for free to warm up leads.
✅ Never expect low-ticket to be your primary revenue driver.

At the end of the day, high-ticket businesses win by keeping it simple.

  • Dial in your marketing.
  • Book high-quality sales calls.
  • Convert them at a high ROI.
  • Scale once you’ve proven the numbers.

That’s it. No complexity. No financial gymnastics. Just a straightforward, profitable strategy that actually works.

The Bottom Line: Which Game Are You Playing?

Ask yourself:

👉 Are you trying to run a volume business that barely scrapes by?
👉 Or are you trying to run a high-margin, high-impact business that scales profitably?

One takes a ton of effort for minimal upside.
The other lets you scale without making your life a nightmare.
